Future Senate President: Latvala to appear
On
Thursday, November 14, 2012 at 3:00 p.m., “Live with Lori,” the breakaway hit
political cooking show that viewers are calling, “a delicious look under the
lid of Florida politics,” will host future Florida Senate President Jack Latvala
(R-Clearwater).
Members of the press are invited to
the taping of this show. There will be a
lunch and an opportunity to speak with Host Lori Halbert and her guest in an
informal setting before the taping begins.
The weekly
show, which debuted in more than 6 million homes across Florida on the popular
Sun Sports Network, a Fox Sports affiliate, on October 4 of this year is fast
becoming the talk of state political circles and offers viewers a chance to
hear from some of Florida’s most influential movers, shakers and policy makers
as they cook up some gourmet favorite dishes.
Show host
Lori Halbert has called her breakaway sensation, Live with Lori, a cross
between a Political News show and a Traditional Cooking show, but viewers
across the sunshine state and their elected lawmakers are taking notice as the
popular network dishes out an insider’s look at politics along side of some
creative and mouthwatering recipes.
“This is not a show to promote any specific
beliefs or agendas. This show is really
about interviewing elected officials in a fun and non-threatening environment
so that our viewers can get to know them as the ‘people’ they are, not the
sound bites in 30 second ads,” Halbert said.
“It is a non-partisan show that will allow the public to come to their
own conclusions about their elected officials, and to have a little fun
learning a new recipe, and just maybe come away with a new flavor for politics
and policy.”
Host Lori
Halbert, herself a former Indialantic town council member who leaped into state
politics for the first time to run for the Florida House in 2010, has
brilliantly mixed her two passions in what viewers and lawmakers are calling “a
surprising, yet savory way,” and she
hope the show makes public policy a little more palatable to Floridians across
the state and across partisan lines.
“I am very passionate about cooking, and there
is something very personal about preparing and sharing a meal with someone,”
Halbert said. “This show is about personalizing important issues and having
some of Florida’s most respected leaders round out our first season has really
given us a chance to do just that, and the response from viewers has been
overwhelming.”
“This is
an exciting opportunity,” Florida Sen. Latvala said. “I have been hearing about ‘Live with Lori’
around the state, and its comfortable atmosphere and casual structure give me,
and other lawmakers, a real chance to connect with our constituents. Besides, it will be fun to learn to make a
little pork with Buttermilk Rosotto.”
